Clay Mills Victorian Pumping Station
Summary
Step back in time and a visit to Britain’s most complete Victorian Pumping Station, in Burton upon Trent.
One of Britain’s largest restored Victorian steam pumping stations. Two operational beam engines and 26 other steam engines.
you will also find a steam driven workshop with blacksmith’s forge onsite and other activities.
Children can follow the rat trail, start a steam engine or try model making.
Light refreshments are available at the onsite café.
Restoration work on the engine has been taking place over the last five years and the rapid work on it has been most impressive. It has required major restoration work to allow it to return to steam operation.
A and B beam engines were stopped by the Corporation in 1969, two years before full closure of the steam pumping station and the house was left to deteriorate over many years.
