Starting in Ellastone, the route takes you along country lanes, through attractive parkland and across fields, offering opportunities to appreciate the area’s wildlife, wildflowers and beautiful countryside. Follow the paths into the historic Calwich Park estate, where you’ll discover the atmospheric remains of Calwich Abbey, an Augustinian establishment dating back to the 12th century.
Although little remains of the original abbey, the landscape offers glimpses into the area’s fascinating past, including remnants of Calwich Hall and an impressive, disused stable block. Along the way, enjoy peaceful views across meadows and wetlands, with the chance to spot local wildlife.
The walk also passes through Ellastone, a charming village with a rich heritage and a historic parish church.
