Dating back to the early 19th century, this wonderfully atmospheric pub was once associated with Bass, one of Burton’s great brewing companies, and began life as a brewery tap. Its name reflects the important role of coopers – highly skilled craftsmen who made and repaired the wooden casks used to transport Burton-brewed beer across Britain and around the world.

Inside, Coopers Tavern is packed with character, including traditional snugs, oak beams, wood panelling, historic brewery memorabilia and its distinctive tap room, where casks remain an important part of the experience. Today, Coopers Tavern is part of Joule’s Brewery and serves a selection of traditional ales, including Bass from the cask, alongside Joule’s beers and other drinks. There’s also a beer garden, live music and a welcoming atmosphere.
