The Dog Inn

Step back in time at The Dog Inn, a characterful 19th-century, half-timbered pub on Lichfield Street in the heart of Burton upon Trent. With its historic setting, welcoming atmosphere and impressive choice of drinks, it’s a great stop for visitors exploring the town’s famous brewing heritage.

Inside, the traditional pub character continues, with wood-panelled walls, a wood-framed ceiling, historic photographs of Burton and three real fires creating a cosy and relaxed setting. Beer enthusiasts are particularly well catered for, with 14 pumps offering a changing selection of cask ales, alongside a choice of ciders and other drinks.

There’s plenty to enjoy beyond the bar, too. The Dog offers traditional pub entertainment including darts, cards, dominoes and board games, while live music takes place on the second Sunday of every month.

The pub is dog-friendly, making it an ideal place to unwind after exploring Burton and the surrounding area, while families are welcome until 7pm.

Part of the Black Country Ales family, The Dog has also been recognised by Burton & South Derbyshire CAMRA, having been named Pub of the Year in 2017, 2018 and 2019.

For historic character, real ale and a genuine traditional pub experience, The Dog is well worth a visit when exploring Burton upon Trent.
