Burton Ghost Walk | From Gaol to Ghosts
Join us on Burton’s most haunted walk, starting and finishing at the historic Royal Oak / Burton Gaol. Step into centuries of chilling tales, restless spirits, and the darker side of Burton’s history.
The evening begins in the pub’s atmospheric function room before we step outside to explore Burton’s haunted streets. Along the way, you’ll hear stories of tragedy, intrigue, and paranormal encounters – from ghostly abbots to witches, gaolers, priests, and many more who are said to interact with visitors to this day.
The Royal Oak / Burton Gaol
Dating back to the 1270s, Burton’s original lock-up was known as “Helle” for its grim conditions. Over the centuries, it has been a prison, a vicarage, and a public house, with tales of ghostly figures still haunting its walls.
