Commonwealth War Graves Tour | Stapenhill Cemetery

Join the Commonwealth War Graves Commission for a free tour of Burton upon Brent Cemetery, led by one of our experienced volunteer tour guides.

MEETING POINT is inside the front gates.

Among the graves within the cemetery are 150 Commonwealth war casualties from the First and Second World Wars, as well as German and Italian prisoners of war. Some are dispersed individually throughout the cemetery, while others lie together in a dedicated plot reminiscent of the larger CWGC cemeteries found in France and Belgium.

This guided tour visits a selection of these graves, sharing the stories of those commemorated and the wider historical context of their service and sacrifice.

The tour lasts approx. 90 mins and covers about 3000 metres on paths and grass with uneven ground and slopes. There is wheelchair access.

Parking is available on site and nearby. There are no on-site facilities and toilets. Please bring water if required.

Please dress for the weather and wear suitable footwear.

Well behaved dogs on a lead are welcome in the cemetery.

Please note there can be last minute cancellations. This can be due to various reasons including illness, site issues and weather. We will email you as soon as we can, but this could include the morning of the tour, so please check your emails prior to leaving for the tour.
