GHOST WALK AT CHRISTMAS

GHOST WALK AT CHRISTMAS

Come on a Ghost walk at Christmas with Mulled wine and mince pies.

Starting from the Olde Royal oak in the market place Burton on Trent. At 7pm on the 20th of December and finishing at 8 pm for your Mulled wince and mince pie.

There was a lock up in the Market place from 1270s its first occupant being a murderer from Alrewas. It was nicknamed *Helle ” by the locals as conditions where so bad. It remained a gaol until the 1760s.Where it did remain as a prison and a public house. ” The landlord had to agree to guard prisoners in a cell and would be accountable to the lord of the manor if a prisoner escaped. After the 1830s it had a period as a vicarage and then reverted back to a pub.

The building has no lack of ghosts including a witch, gaoler, priest and many more. Who have proved to be very interactive with the public. I am going to tell you all about it or as has happened in the past they may tell you themselves.

The walk starts in Burton Gaol/Royal oak then proceeds outside onto the Burton ghost walk nicknamed the haunted walk due to all the visitations seen by general public.

The Haunted walk

The haunted walk is the nickname given to Burton ghost walk. With visitations of spirits. With a spirit of a abbot appearing and terrifying a group so much they ran of the walk. This is one of numerous examples of spirits contacting the public while going round the walk.

It is probably not surprising. With the legends connected with the Holy grail , peaky blinders ,Mary Queen of Scots and many more.

The story of the ghosts of Burton are laced with tragedy, humour and intrigue. As you walk with them as their stories are told.

The walk is semi outdoor so you are advised to wear suitable clothing for the time of year. There is parking around the location.
