From arts and crafts, outdoor trails and an assault course hosted by the Arboretum’s very own home guard, there will be something for all ages this half term.
The Year Was 1945… Outdoor Trail
Venture out into the colourful spring grounds and explore the many memorials that have a connection to 1945. At each location, solve the clue to reveal the answers.
Once you have revealed the hidden word, take your trail sheet to the front desk to claim a prize!

Outdoor Assault Course
Join costumed interpreters and complete an assault course fit for the Home Guard.
Learn about the important role they played in the war effort and see if you have the skills to make it home to mark the end of the war.

Put your creative hat on and join in for some 1945 inspired arts and crafts, using a range of provided materials.

Stick Man Outdoor Trail
Youngest visitors will enjoy joining Stick Man on his journey back to the family tree. You can pick up a free copy of the self-led trail from the Welcome Desk. It is recommended that families wishing to try the trail wear appropriate footwear and clothing. The route may be unsuitable for some pushchairs.

Outdoor Play Areas
The Children’s Sensory Play Garden can be found near to the Remembrance Centre. A second children’s play area, with a picnic area, is near to the Children’s Wood.
Booking
To guarantee entry and to get the most from your visit, it is highly recommend booking your visit in advance.
Entry to the Arboretum is free, and parking is charged at £5 for cars booked in advance and £8 on the day. One parking ticket is required per vehicle.
Please ensure that upon arrival you have your booking confirmation ready to present to a parking attendant (digitally on your phone is fine).
