Stapenhill means ‘steep hill’ in old Anglo Saxon.

Historically, the locality was well regarded by the Anglo Saxons.

It functioned as their graveyard.

Consequently, it is a place with ghostly potential.

We began research after stories of vampires and witches in this small village.

This included asking a psychic to undertake a psychic walk with me prior to writing the script. Nevertheless, it was to be a shock, because I knew that Stapenhill was very haunted. I did not realise how much.

As well, the ghost legend of Alice Goodridge (the Stapenhill witch) was discussed on the Burton ghost walk. The legendary Drakelow vampire rests in Stapenhill, according to local legend. During the research into the walk, the aim was not only to find many ghosts but also to uncover stories.
