Step inside The Shop and take a trip through Burton’s musical past. Running throughout Culture Week, this free exhibition celebrates three venues that shaped the town’s live music and nightlife scene, the 76 Club, the Folk Club, and the Refinery.

Brought together by Sonic Boom with the help of the people who were actually there, including former owners, DJs, and dedicated regulars, the display features original flyers, posters, articles, signage, and memorabilia that tell the story of each venue and the communities that gathered around them. These are pieces of Burton’s cultural history, many of which have never been on public display before.

The exhibition is open throughout the week and manned by volunteers, but the most important contributors might be you. If you visited any of these venues, worked there, or have memories you’d like to share, we’d love to hear them. Come in, have a look, and tell us your stories.
