A free, open-door session where anyone with an instrument is welcome to come in and play. No set parts or rehearsals, just musicians of all levels finding their footing together in real time. Hosted by Leah Wilcox, the Open Jam is as welcoming to a first-timer as it is to a seasoned gigging musician. A fitting close to Culture Week: informal, communal, and entirely led by whoever walks through the door.

A small selection of instruments will be available in The Shop, though we encourage you to bring your own.

Leah Wilcox is an emerging singer-songwriter from Derbyshire whose music sits at the intersection of indie rock, ambient folk, and 70s influences — a sound she calls “English Countrygaze.” Heartfelt storytelling and a deep sense of place are at the core of everything she writes, capturing something distinctly English in both mood and landscape.

Leah began performing at open mic nights at 15, launched her original music project at 19, and hasn’t looked back since. Her debut single Undergrown (2023) quickly gained traction and led to festival slots at TRUCK and YNOT. Her latest single Blue has since been featured on BBC Introducing East Midlands, adding to a growing reputation that marks her out as one of the more compelling voices to emerge from the East Midlands in recent years.
