Celebrate Tutbury Day with a visit to the beautiful Priory Church of St Mary’s on Saturday 15 August.

Founded by Henry de Ferrers in 1086 and consecrated on 15 August 1089, the church has been at the heart of the community for more than 900 years. Each year, the anniversary of its consecration is celebrated as Tutbury Day, bringing the community together to enjoy the church’s heritage and hospitality.

Start your day at the popular Priory Pantry, open from 10am to 12 noon, where you’ll find delicious homemade cakes, hot drinks and a warm welcome. While you’re there, explore this remarkable historic church and see the country’s only external alabaster arch, crafted from locally mined Burton alabaster.

In the evening, enjoy a concert by Burton Concert Band, performing a selection of music from the movies. Doors open at 7pm. Tickets are £15 and include an arrival drink, with refreshments and a raffle available during the evening.

Whether you’re interested in local history, live music or simply enjoying a day out, Tutbury Day offers a wonderful opportunity to celebrate one of East Staffordshire’s most treasured landmarks as part of Burton Cultural Celebration.
