Uttoxeter Racecourse is firmly established as one of the leading National Hunt tracks in the Midlands, offering both quality racing and fun events throughout the year.

Set in 110 acres of East Staffordshire countryside, located in the beautiful market town of Uttoxeter, between Stoke-on-Trent and Derby.

History

Uttoxeter Racecourse is a countryside National Hunt track. Having first opened its gates in 1907 with just 5 race meetings a year, the
racecourse now has 25 diverse fixtures throughout each year. The racecourse was forced to close during the first and second world wars, but when it reopened in 1952 it saw a staggering 12,000 people turn up for the first meeting.

Uttoxeter has seen some big names on its grounds including Lord Gyllene (owned by former racecourse chairman, Sir Stanley Clarke) who finished second in the Midlands Grand National in 1997, but went on to win at the Grand National at Aintree just a few weeks later. Also, champion jockey AP McCoy, who marked his 1,700th win at Uttoxeter in 2002.
