Burton upon Trent has plenty to raise a glass to, with seven of its pubs included in the CAMRA Good Beer Guide 2027.

For a town with such a proud brewing heritage, it is fitting that Burton continues to make its mark in one of the UK’s best-known guides to good pubs and cask beer. The latest edition features 88 Staffordshire venues, including an impressive seven in Burton upon Trent – and three exciting new entries.

The Good Beer Guide 2027 is CAMRA’s 54th edition and features more than 4,500 pubs across the UK. Its listings are selected through CAMRA’s independent, volunteer-led process, making inclusion a notable recognition for pubs across the country.

Seven Burton Pubs to Discover

The 2027 guide gives visitors a fantastic reason to explore Burton’s diverse pub scene.

The seven Burton entries are:

  • The Arches | Outwoods Brewing – a new micropub offering a contemporary take on the traditional local.
  • Beeropolis – an independent micropub celebrating Burton’s brewing heritage.
  • Burton Bridge Inn – a cosy historic pub with a strong connection to Burton Bridge Brewery.
  • Devonshire Arms – a much-loved traditional pub close to the town centre.
  • The Dog Inn – a characterful 19th-century, half-timbered pub with a warm traditional atmosphere.
  • The Elms Inn – a welcoming pub across the River Trent in Stapenhill.
  • The Roebuck Inn – a historic Burton pub with a fascinating connection to the town’s brewing past.

Particularly exciting for Burton is the feature of three new entries in the 2027 guide: The Arches, Burton Bridge Inn and The Dog Inn. The Arches is a new micropub, the Burton Bridge Inn a cosy 17th-century pub and the Dog Inn which has an impressive cask ale range.

A Great Excuse to Explore Burton

Together, these seven pubs showcase the variety of experiences available to visitors – from historic buildings and traditional locals to independent micropubs and pubs closely connected with Burton’s brewing story.

For visitors interested in discovering Burton upon Trent’s brewing heritage, the guide provides inspiration for exploring different parts of the town, enjoying its hospitality and discovering some of the places that help make its pub culture distinctive.

And Burton is only part of the story. Across Staffordshire, 88 venues feature in the 2027 guide, with 18 new Staffordshire entries. Other new additions include pubs in Leek, Newcastle-under-Lyme and Lichfield, while Tamworth, Stoke-on-Trent and communities across the county are also represented. Staffordshire’s real ale credentials are further underlined by 25 local breweries featured in the guide.
